Paint home exterior

Are you looking for an easy way to spruce up the appearance of your home without breaking the bank? Have you considered an exterior paint job? Not only will your home be transformed into a newer looking house, it will provide necessary protection from weather and pesky bugs!

Have you ever noticed that a great exterior paint job is almost as contagious as a yawn? An exterior paint job has the potential to transform an average looking house into a stunning home in an extremely short time frame. With this being said, as soon as one neighbor makes the decision to begin his/her exterior paint job, others usually fall behind. Whether it is the slight competitive streak that runs within or the feeling of jealously that “his” house looks better than “mine,” one is usually able to see neighboring homeowners examining paint brochures and color swatches almost immediately.
If and when you decide to paint your home, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, choose a color scheme that is not considered trendy or something that you will not outgrow overnight. Choosing the color scheme that works for you is extremely important. The best thing to do while

you are still in the decision making process, is go out for a drive and see what houses stand out to you. Try to determine what it is about that house in particular that made you do a double take. Is it the light/dark contrast of the body and trim or the overall color combination?

Once you have narrowed down the colors that appeal to you, research painting companies that have those particular colors. The quality of paint being used is extremely important. Seeing that a good paint job can last you ten years, you need to purchase the proper tools to allow this longevity to happen. Yes, you might be spending more money on a name brand paint, but one would have to agree that is money well spent! You would not want to have to be faced with all these decisions and financial burdens again in just two or three short years! Also, it is just as important to make sure the proper prepping steps are being taken by you or the individual painting your home. Proper prepping techniques and finishing touches play just as an important role as does the quality of paint being used.

Before you get your painting job underway, test the paint on your home! Choose an area that will not draw too much attention, usually the back or the side of your house is the best place to test out the colors. Depending on the current color you are painting over or the number of times your house has been painted, a particular color that you loved on your neighbor’s house may look entirely different on yours. Again, do not make a hasty decision, make sure you look at the new color at least three times a day. The amount of sunlight and/or moonlight will provide a different appearance and you want to make sure it is one that brings enjoyment to you.
